Welcome to my portfolio! My name is Julian Pollifrone (PAUL-E-FRONE; throne but with an “f”). I am a K-5 educator, digital filmmaker, and instructional designer. From the start of my teaching career, I identified the push by our administration to utilize more technology in the classroom, but rarely offering support as to how that technology can help us better meet our learning objectives. Given my child-like excitement and curiosity of new and emerging technologies, along with my passion for mentoring and sharing my creativity, I enrolled in the University of North Carolina Charlotte’s Master’s in Education Technology and Instructional Design program in the Spring of 2023. What follows is a display of my knowledge and capabilities in this field showcased in my projects, which are accompanied by short reflections describing my rationale and insight into the creation process of each piece. Please feel free to contact me via phone number or email address provided below if you are interested in collaborating with or in need of an instructional designer. I hope you enjoy the portfolio!
The LDT Philosophy
Learning, Design, and Technology is a field focused on determining the most appropriate technology for the learning objective of each lesson. It can be very tempting as an educator or administrator to want to use the newest technology because it is cool and exciting. With that said, the outcome of the lesson on the student’s learning and ability to assess how well they have met the lesson objectives should be the top priority. The role of the technology is to enhance and improve upon the effectiveness of how the lesson is delivered. My role as an instructional designer is to develop tutorials for educators to use when implementing new programs into their curriculum and help them find the programs that will best meet the needs of their learning objectives.
